About the orchestra
Durham Sinfonia was formed in the 1980s, and its members are drawn from across the North East. Its membership comprises both professional and amateur musicians who come together for at least three major concerts per year.
In recent years the orchestra has worked with a number of professional conductors and soloists, including Simon Wright, Timothy Reynish, Philippe Bach, Andre de Ridder and Baldur Bronnimann. The orchestra is, in fact, a registered charity and would like to express its gratitude to sponsors Northern Rock and Fentimans for their continuing support.
